Ola Electric shares rose 9% to an intraday high of Rs 83.70 on the NSE today, following the debut of two new electric scooter ranges priced at Rs 39,000 each, making them the most inexpensive offers in Ola’s lineup.
The two new scooter models, called the Ola S1 Z and Gig, are the most reasonably priced Ola products to date, with prices starting at an incredible Rs 39,000. With the help of Ola’s recently released PowerPod, the scooters’ creative detachable battery packs may easily double as home inverters.
With the introduction of the Ola Gig and S1 Z, Ola Electric hopes to hasten the adoption of electric vehicles by offering reasonably priced, dependable, and secure choices for both personal and business use, according to Bhavish Aggarwal, chairman and managing director of the company.
Ola Electric New Scooter Launches
Ola Electric has launched commercial-grade electric scooters called the Gig and Gig Plus. The former starts at Rs. 40,000, and the latter starts at Rs. 50,000. Both scooters have detachable batteries and are designed to be sturdy workhorses. The Gig, which is the less expensive of the two, has a single 1.5kWh battery with a stated range of 112 kilometers.
The scooter’s 250W motor, which is powered by this battery, can reach a top speed of 25 kmph. In contrast, the Gig Plus can be powered by two 1.5kWh batteries that work together to provide a stated range of about 157km. Additionally, it has a larger 1.5kW motor with a top speed of 45 kmph. These scooters are said to be 93.4% more cost-effective in terms of daily operating expenses when compared to the average operating cost of an ICE scooter.
With only a few body panels and a baggage rack up front and back, the Gig appears to be fully stripped down. With extra body cladding up front and brighter colors, the Gig Plus, on the other hand, is marginally more appealing. Both versions had twin springs, telescopic forks, and 12-inch wheels on both ends. Drums at both ends manage braking.
