The festival of Janmashtami, which is celebrated throughout India on Monday, August 26, 2024, is characterized by a variety of religious rites, fasting, and joyous festivities.
On August 26, banks will be closed in several places due to festivities. Banks will be closed in Gujarat, Odisha, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jammu, Srinagar, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, and Himachal Pradesh, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) annual list of bank holidays.
Financial markets will be open on Monday even though banks will be closed. On Janmashtami, trading will remain open on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Likewise, on August 26, trading will continue as usual on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) during the morning and evening sessions.
