However, stocks of companies including Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Nestlé, and IndusInd Bank fell. The Nifty concluded the final trading day of 2024 almost unchanged, while the Sensex closed down 109 points. At 78,139.01, the benchmark Sensex dropped 109.12 points (0.14%). A minor decline was also observed in the Nifty, which ended the day at 23,644.80, down just 0.10 points.

In 2024, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 77.66 lakh crore. The BSE Sensex increased by over 8% over this time frame. The market value of firms listed on the BSE crossed Rs 400 lakh billion for the first time on April 8, 2024. However, a number of factors contributed to the market’s sharp collapse, including rising inflation, global uncertainty following the US presidential election, and the selling of foreign institutional investors (FIIs).

Nevertheless, the Nikkei of Japan ended the day on December 30 down 0.96 percent, or 386.62 points, bringing the total value down to 39,894.54. The Tokyo-based index TOPIX was also closed, closing at 2,784.92 on December 30 after losing 0.60 percent. Moving on to China, the Hang Seng ended the day on December 31 with a slight increase of 0.092 percent, reaching 20,059.95 points.
