About the Company – Coal India

The Ministry of Coal, Government of India, oversees Coal India Limited (CIL), a Schedule “A” “Navratna” public sector undertaking with its headquarters located in Kolkata, West Bengal. For a range of applications, we provide different grades of both coking and non-coking coal. We operated 471 mines as of March 31, 2010, comprising 163 open cast mines, 273 underground mines, and 35 mixed mines (which combine both open cast and subterranean mines) across 21 significant coalfields spanning eight states in India.

With a combined planned feedstock capacity of 39.40 million tons annually, we also managed 17 coal beneficiation facilities. With a total proposed feedstock capacity of 111.10 million tons annually, we want to build an additional 20 coal beneficiation facilities. In addition, we supplied 424 hospitals and 85 hospitals.
