On Wednesday, Bharti Airtel announced that it had given telecom equipment manufacturer Nokia a multibillion dollar contract to extend its 4G and 5G services throughout the nation’s major cities and states. The deal states that Nokia will implement base stations, baseband units, and the newest generation of massive MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) radios, which are powered by its energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip technology.

Nokia will install devices from its cutting-edge 5G AirScale portfolio, which includes base stations, baseband units, and the newest Massive MIMO radios, all of which are driven by its energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip technology, as per the agreement. With superior 5G capacity and coverage, these solutions will enhance Airtel’s network and aid in its growth.
Nokia will also add multiband radios and baseband equipment to Airtel’s current 4G network, which complements 5G. Additionally, Airtel will employ Nokia’s MantaRay Network Management to monitor and manage smart networks with AI-based solutions for technical assistance, optimization, and digital deployment.
In addition to the historic agreement, Nokia stated that the introduction of green 5G initiatives, which are intended to improve the energy efficiency of Airtel’s whole network and reduce carbon emissions in accordance with the company’s aggressive emission reduction target, has lately elevated their collaboration to new heights.
In a similar vein, Airtel will also make use of Nokia’s MantaRay Network Management, which offers AI-based capabilities for technical assistance, digital rollout, and optimization in intelligent network monitoring and management.
