Many people anticipate obtaining Social Security payments when they reach retirement age or because of eligibility criteria such as disability. However, certain circumstances can result in a reduction or even complete loss of these benefits. Knowing what circumstances may affect your Social Security benefits is critical to avoiding unanticipated disruptions.
SSI beneficiaries will not receive their normal Social Security checks in September
The Social Security Administration generally distributes SSI compensation on the first of every month. However, the first date is a Sunday in September 2024. If payment dates overlap with weekends or holidays, the agency will distribute on Friday, August 30, the preceding business day. To minimize misconceptions, SSI recipients continued to receive their complete September benefit; the day on which payments were withheld was only slightly different than usual. When December 1st and January 1st fall on weekends or holidays, they are rescheduled for the preceding business day, which in this case is November 29th and December 31st, respectively.
Furthermore, according to the Social Security check payment schedule for Tuesday, September 3, persons who receive both Social Security and SSI payments, as well as those who started receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997, should continue to receive their benefits as usual. If you do not come into either of these categories, you will receive your benefits as usual in September. Your Social Security check will be delivered on September 11 if your birthday falls between the first and tenth; on September 18 if it falls between the eleventh and twentieth; and on September 25 if it falls between the twenty-first and thirty-first.
What is the social security benefit?
When you cut back on your hours or quit your job entirely, your Social Security Retirement benefit is a monthly check that helps to offset some of your lost income. As you get older, it’s necessary to find other means to pay for your monthly needs because it might not be able to completely replace your income. Discover how to submit an application.
